ALISOS CANYON AVA

This is how you do Los Alamos.

Bell Street is seven blocks. The population is under two thousand. There is a Michelin-starred bistro next to an antique store next to a 1959 motor lodge with a pool. Los Alamos was a stagecoach stop in 1876 and one hundred and fifty years later it's now a food and wine mecca. It sits right outside Alisos Canyon, the county's newest AVA, planted predominantly to Rhône varieties. The tasting rooms are small and frequently run by the family who made the wine. Park once, then wander–Los Alamos’s shops, restaurants, and landmarks are all clustered around its compact town center.
